Workshops relating to the Active Citizenship theme of the PSE (Personal and Social Education) Framework 2008

  • Design and create 8 workshops covering topics from UNCRC (United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child) to equality and diversity
  • Delivery of this training to Key stage 3 & 4 pupils in schools across the Convergence areas using a number of innovative and sustainable methods (including peer education)
  • These workshops are designed to meet desired learning outcomes of the PSE framework and to encourage skills such as negotiation, team work and problem solving that are essential to the modern workplace
  • Promoting participation within education through workshops with young people

           What are we offering?

Funky Dragon has created a programme of 8 workshops which are suitable for Key stages 3 – 5, and which are based around the theme of ‘active citizenship’. Each workshop contains a range of participatory and engaging methods to ensure maximum enjoyment and learning.

There are elements of individual study, and small group work within them. Each workshop has been designed to last approximately 1 hour, though can be adapted to suit the needs of each group. A selection of workshops can be delivered to one group, to suit their specific needs; and we are happy to discuss any specific requirements you may have. 2 OCN units (at levels 1 and 2) have been developed to accredit this work, if desired.

Please note that this is optional and will incur an administration charge (per learner) for most groups. Please enquire for more information. The workshops have been designed to meet the requirements of a number of existing curricula, and this document aims to detail how each workshop relates to the following:

Youth Work Curriculum Statement for Wales

Welsh Baccalaureate

Education for Sustainable Development and

Global Citizenship (ESDGC)

In addition to these workshops we are able to deliver a range of sessions, using a variety of creative methods (e.g. video/photography projects). We are happy to discuss suitable options for different schools and groups, so please don’t hesitate to get in touch for more information.
