Participation Unit

What is the Participation Unit?

The Participation Unit’s main aim is to help children and young people (0-25) in Wales to participate in issues that directly affect their lives. We also want to change the views of adults to make it easier for children and young people to participate. The Unit is hosted by Save the Children on behalf of the Participation Consortium, is steered by the Consortium, and acts as its delivery ‘arm’.

Who are the Participation Unit and where do they work?

The Unit has 6 members of staff:

  • Anna Skeels - Participation Unit Manager
  • Meredid Lewis - Development Worker
  • Rebecca Horder - Development Worker
  • John Davies - Assistant Development Worker
  • Caroline Dean - Assistant Development Worker
  • Stacey Jones - Administrator
  • Annette Boyle - Finance & Admin Officer

We are based at the Save the Children offices in Cardiff. Save the Children manages us, pays our wages and gives us free office space. We are also funded by the Welsh Assembly Government Children and Families Organisational Grant, European Social Fund, Millennium Volunteers and Making the Connections.

We work all over Wales – for example, we have run workshops with groups of young people in Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion, Wrexham and Conwy.
