Participation Project

Welsh Assembly Government
Children and Young Peoples Participation Team

The Welsh Assembly Government is committed to driving forward children and young people’s participation in all issues that affect their lives.

The Welsh Assembly Government are working with staff across all policy areas to raise awareness of participation and how important it is that children and young people are involved in the changes and the decisions that the Government make that can affect their lives.  We are working to make procedures and documents easier to understand and to create opportunities for all children and young people to have their say and to get recognised for their involvement and their contributions.

Your Voice, Your Choice Project

The Welsh Assembly Government’s Participation Team are running fun and participative training to help young people (aged 11-24) like you get more involved in the work of organisations in your area or the work of the Welsh Assembly Government itself. Have your say! The training is free. Six 1-day courses have been be specially designed to help young people in Wales to make a real difference.

We are also working with Working Word, Promo Cymru and Cardiff Young People to raise awareness of children and young peoples participation and to promote children and young peoples rights.

School Councils

The Welsh Assembly Government has told all your schools they must have a school council in place from November 2006 to allow young people to have a voice within schools. For information log on to the website at the bottom of this page.
